Empire of the Dead – Night of the Nosferatu 0
The Night of the Nosferatu is upon us, as the city falls into the darkness of Old Night, the Ancient beyond reckoning, Nosferatu move from chilling nightmare to terrifying reality. Whether on the streets of the city or in the wild places of the land the Nosferatu seek to tighten their grip on the souls of man and their own malevolent traditions.
Ok so I have got hold of my second, third and fourth factions for Empire of the Dead, in this post I will look, in detail, at the Nosferatu – Vampire Clan. I will go through my thoughts for everything from the box, the packaging, the prep work required and then I will display the painted models.
I kinda thought “why not they are so cheap I might as well have a few factions”!!
The Box - Ok so I received my delivery from West Wind and opened the delivery box to find this inside:
The box is of sturdy design and the artwork is really great, Cruel Britannia and the Bloody Vampire!!!
The Packaging - Inside the box is two layers of thick foam safely transporting the beautiful West Wind miniatures, I think this would double up as a good carry case for your faction!
The Prep Work Required - As you can see from the image above the models don’t require a lot of prep work to get them ready for paint, a couple of bits of flash and the odd mould line is all that are on the models and these are easily removed! Then its just a quick kink in the slotta tab to get a more snug fit in the base and your ready for glue and paint!
The Graff - A REALLY awesome model to paint, I love the Gothic Horror feel of this model and the fact that it has a cape, I love painting capes!!!
The Consort - Again an awesome model, loving the flowing gown and the hair do!!! found the riped cloth a nice detail!
The Watcher - Love the staff and Lantern and again the flowing cape of this human, nice detailing on the trousers and the shirt!
Thralls - A couple of nice models, my favourite is the one with the face showing!
And last of all the Bat Swarms - These are really great models, loads of Gothic feel from looking at these. Nice to paint with nice crisp detail!
All in all a great way to get into Empire of the Dead, lovely models to paint and add to your collection. Scorpius GLC says “pop over to West Wind and pick yourself up a box”!
So what do you think? Tempt you to the Dark Side in Empire of the Dead?

Empire of the Dead – A Full Moon’s Rise 0
From the depths of ancient forests the Lycaon are rising. No longer able to sit by and watch as their secretive world is menaced by the march of technology, they have stirred their followers to find and destroy any who threaten them, this is the so called Empire of the Dead!!!
As you will have read in my many blog posts I am in love with West Wind Productions newest skirmish game – Empire of the Dead!
I have previously looked at the wonderful Weird Victoriana Game through the released concept art and then the pre-release schedule of the miniatures and then after receiving my miniatures and rulebook I wrote a review of sorts for the book, set about playing games and doing a review of the Lycaon Starter boxed set. I know have painted the Lycaon Starter and here I take a look at the results!
Beastlord - This Werewolf is the Alpha-Male of the pack and as such the model is of a muscular werewolf. These aren’t the foaming at the mouth, blood drenched beasts that we have seen through horror movies but are a neutral faction in the game and so the model isn’t a rip your face off kinda werewolf!
The Pack Master - This is the hero level character, not the overall leader but still an impressive werewolf! As I have said before the model reminds me of the Wolfman and a couple of pictures I have found that gave me inspiration when painting him are pictured below:
The Wolves of the pack - These join the pack and help in the game as a support for the werewolf models as they have the same speed.
The Wolfskin - These make up the bulk of the pack, actually humans that want to be turned into werewolves these are loyal to the cause and are treated as part of the pack by the wolves as well. Armed with bows, Crossbows, Throwing Weapons and the nasty Claws of the Wolfen these are great during the game!
When I can afford him I will also be hiring the formidable brute of Cedric Hyde who will add some strong ranged and extra combat punch!
Empire of the Dead – The Brute, The Professor, The Man Ape & Lady Luck 0
So this is the first in my: “painting revealed” for Empire of the Dead. I have picked up a couple of the Special Characters so far and have painted up one of them (Cedric Hyde) and have had the pleasure of painting 3 up for Ian Hill (Lady Luck, The Man Ape & Professor Erazmus).
The models are lovely sculpts and are a pleasure to paint! They are also priced at a VERY NICE price for the collector or gamer!!! I really praise West Wind for the Production Level of their products and urge you to give them a try!
Lets take a look at the Circ du Noir Man Ape.
West Wind Productions Says this about this great miniature, available for £7: Trapped between man and animal in a body corrupted by a foul Infernium experiment. Treated as a freak by society, he acts as an intelligence source and, occasionally, much more for his masters. Driven by a hatred of his own form he will stop at nothing to prevent further corruption of the natural world.
Next up is Lady Luck
West Wind Productions says this about the Lady Sniper, available for £7: To the poor unfortunates of London’s rookeries, Lady Luck is a sister of holy orders ministering to their needs. To those in the know, however, the Lady is a merciless bounty hunter ready to assassinate the enemies of her paymasters with a well-aimed bullet from her Indian forged Jezzail. Her victims can take little solace in the prayers she offers up for their souls.
After that we have Professor Erazmus.
West Wind Productions site says this about their Limited Edition Figure that comes with a Rulebook Purchase: There are few inventions that cannot be traced in some way back to the brilliance of Professor Erazmus. An expert in manipulating Infernium it is no surprise that factions of all hues will stop at nothing to secure his services or prevent his knowledge falling into the hands of their enemies.
And Finally we take a look at Cedric Hyde.
West Wind Productions says this about their Brutish Child-like Thug, available for £7: The offspring of the infamous Mr Hyde and a destitute lady of the night, Cedric Hyde combines the strength and temper of his father with the vulnerability of the small child he really is. Capable of feats of great strength but unpredictable, Cedric can help a faction achieve great success but always at the risk of his tantrums, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
