It’s been a while!

Hi guys, it has been a while! I have been busy with Portal Wargaming Club & Project Astral (more about that in a bit) and I’ve been and am now under the weather (health-wise) again. All of this has led to a lack of painting, writing, blogging, etc……………..but hey here I am with an update (at last I hear you say)!

So Project Astral stands at nearly 1500pts painted as I write this piece! I took some time to talk to the guys at Portal Wargaming Club about their thoughts on the new 40k and most have decided its time to start new armies (or at least bolster their forces with allies) and this got me thinking about how great it is to be part of this “New 40k: New Army” movement within the club! I have once again taken inspiration from my brother (Edd “SNAGA101″ Barfield) and friend (Matt “Chaos Bringer” Pendleton), the Badab War 3 will now be doing massive Armies! Edd has decided after a very vivid dream that his army will not be complete until he has the full 2nd Company of Red Scorpions, Matt liked this idea and as such has decided to do a large force and that leaves me……….THE INSPIRED, who will be building my army well above 2000pts and utilising that all important second force organisation chart!

I have decided that I would like to document the “New 40k: New Army” movement with a series of videos for YouTube and will be suggesting we run a slow-grow campaign at the club to tie it all together entitled BATTLES IN THE MAELSTROM ZONE!!! The first of the videos are up on YouTube now ScorpiusGLC’s YouTube Channel the quality of these is set to improve now that I have got to grips with things!!

So BATTLES IN THE MAELSTROM ZONE The Campaign, my ideas so far:

> SETTING – the war torn Maelstrom Zone, an area of the Galaxy where the Forces of the Imperium and their allies do battle against Chaos, Raiding Dark Eldar, Necrons – the reclaimers of the Galaxy, the Tyranids – the Great Devourer and the Deluded forces of Lugft Huron and his Astral Claws Tyrants Legion! If Chaos Defeat Space Marines it is an Anti-Imperial Win, if Space Marines defeat Space Marines it’s an Anti-Imperial Win, etc

> Games played start at 500pts, standard Force Organisation Chart and slow-grow over the next few months.

> Incorporate a Painting Competition for best Painted Character, Monstrous Creature or Vehicle & Army. Decided by the Battles in the Maelstrom Zone combatants!
