My Week in Wargaming – 27/02/12 – 04/03/12

Miniature Monday - After a long and tiring week the previous week I had a night off from hobby time and caught up with the usual suspects on the TV!

Hobby Time Tuesday - Painted some more on my Vikings for Saga with visions of battle now dancing through my head!

Wednesday Portal Wargaming Club Night - My first gaming night of the week and I had a battle against my brother! Dystopian Wars was the game, avoiding the Death Laser was my plan as he would be playing Covenant of Antarctica against my Prussian Empire Fleet! The game was good and hard fought but time was called before a winner had been declared!

Thursday Hobby Time - Finished off 16 of my Viking warriors for Saga (pics in the Oden’s Warriors Blog Post), really starting to get the gaming itch, can’t wait to see these on the battlefield!!

Friday Night Gaming at Midco Toys - Played a couple of games of Magic the Gathering using my White/Green Token Deck! Tonight it didn’t perform very well but still placed top 8!

Saturday Hobby Time - I took a week off from running the Portal Wargaming Saturday Club and spent the day painting more on my Saga Vikings. I managed to get some Bondi painted earlier in the week so it was the turn of the Hirdmen and Varangian Guard!

Hobby Time – The Sunday Edition - I used my time wisely and set about painting the standard Viking Warlord, Harald Hardradda & the Beserkers. Doing all these models together allowed me to work on each in turn while a stage was drying on the others. I don’t normally like painting characters at the same time as other things as I want to give my full attention to the character, however I think the finished models haven’t suffered any!! Here’s a sneak peak at my 6pts warband and extra warlord!

My Week in Wargaming – 20-26/2/2012

This week in wargaming has been an interesting one:

Miniature Monday - saw a change in my planned activities. I had originally planned to paint a commission FSA fleet for Dystopian Wars but as the boxed set was missing 3 of the frigates I decided I would start assembling my new Saga Vikings! I managed to assemble 6pts and the normal Viking Warlord that came with the starter set.

Tuesday Hobby Time - I went to a friends house to talk about my new years resolution, read through the Warlord Rulebook by Reaper Miniatures and the Saga Rulebook while they all played in a Magic the Gathering Draft.

Wednesday Portal Wargaming Club Night - I had hoped to have a game of Dystopian Wars against my brother but as he had forgotten his stuff I couldn’t play “sigh”. I had also given a committee member a night off the door of the club and as the Chairman I would be on the door instead. Love doing the meet and greets & listening to the volume of near 50 gamers battling it out in Wargames, Card Games & Board Games!!!

Friday Night Gaming with Portal Wargaming at Midco Toys - I managed to run and take part in the FNM event and after that was done and dusted I cracked out my Murloc Deck for World of Warcraft TCG and played a very bloody game against an awesome Paladin Deck! It was another busy night for the club with over 30 people playing Card, Board & Wargames!

Portal Wargaming’s Saturday Gaming Club - This was yet again another busy day for Portal Wargaming as on the day we had the Magic the Gathering Dark Ascension Game Day as well as the Pokemon First Journey Tournament, this all intermingled with the usual wargames and games of HeroClix! I unfortunately was running the show and so didn’t get any chance to play any games.

Sunday - I had the pleasure of helping to texture 2 new gaming boards for Portal Wargaming at Midco Toys.

Join me next time when hopefully I’ll have some games of Dystopian Wars to rave about!!
