So it’s a New Year and that means only one thing for Scorpius GLC’s World of Wargaming: A new New Years Hobby Resolution!
I’ll start off by saying that I am NOT going to be selling loads of miniatures! I am NOT saying “no miniatures/new games 2013″!
What I AM Saying is:
2013 will be different to previous years as I will be doing not one but two year-long projects this year alongside my usual love for the skirmish systems out there and the odd miniature fuelled board game!
Year-long Project 1: Hail Caesar – Celts Army – Along with good friend, Andy Nash from Bears Wargaming who will be doing a Roman Force this will culminate in a game at Portal Wargaming Club at the end of the year. This will be done to showcase the positive nature that wargaming can have to help people suffering from Depression, a Mental Illness that has affected both me and Andy.
Year-long Project 2: Pre-Heresy – Imperial Fists Army – this year I will be doing the mighty Imperial Fists culminating in a special 30k multi-player game for my brothers 30th Birthday!!!
As well as doing these projects I will be showing some love to some Skirmish level games and miniature based Board Games.
Dark Age Project: CORE – I will be building and painting a CORE force for the awesome game Dark Age, I will also be running demo games and tournaments throughout the year at Portal Wargaming.
Bolt Action/Secrets of the Third Reich Project: Late War Wermacht – I will be building a German Force to be used for both Bolt Action and Secrets of the Third Reich based around a Late War Theme!
Zombicide/Super Dungeon Explore – I will be running demo games and participation events of these games throughout the year at Portal Wargaming, so watch this space for more information!
As you can see I have an interesting year of wargaming planned, what’s your wargaming plans for 2013? Drop me a comment and let me know!
So 2012 was a busy year for this Hobbyist, I made a Pledge to plan out a 40k army, work out its cost (all in) and try to do 3 other projects that would cost less than that (all in) Games Workshop investment. How did I do?!
Well I pledged to do Warlord by Reaper Miniatures & SAGA by Tomahawk Studios……I did the SAGA project but failed to complete my Warlord project this was due to the following couple of little distractions throughout the year which can be seen in detail throughout my blog posts:
> 2000pts Dystopian Wars Prussian Fleet
> 2000pts Dystopian Wars Covenant of Antarctica Fleet
> 1000pts Dystopian Wars Empire of the Blazing Sun Fleet
> 3 Man USCR MERCS Team
> Empire of the Dead Lycaon Faction Box
> Empire of the Dead Vampire Faction Box
> Empire of the Dead Gentlemen Faction
> Empire of the Dead Special Characters: Lady Luck, Circ Noir Man Ape, Cedric Hyde, Professor Erazmus, Butler & Mr Chops the Demon Butcher
> 750pts 15mm GRUNTZ Force
> 2000Pts Warhammer 40,000 Astral Claws: Tyrants Legion Army
> 55RP Secrets of the Third Reich Soviet Survivors Force
> 750pts Dark Age Skarrd Army
that’s my year in the hobby review. I got lots of Hobby done throughout the year….. Hope yours was as eventful!!!
So as you will have seen I am starting to get into the Brom art inspired world of Dark Age! I have decided on my first faction, the Skarrd and have been picking up a few models to get my force off the ground.
I have got hold of the Skarrd Warband, the Tribal Father Warpack and the Charity’s Zeal boxed set and this will form the basis of my force. I am heavily inspired by the project that the Angelic One from the Throne of Angels has underway on YouTube and so have started to get these models ready.
So far I have:
On the way from Cool Mini Or Not:
A John Woe
A unit of 3 Drillheads
So what do you guys think, if you are interested in Dark Age go check out the website for more info! Please check back for further updates on my project Skarrd and upcoming project CORE as well as a date for upcoming demos and events at Portal Wargaming!
